Our species has come a long way in the last several centuries, and we've gone a long way as well. From a single planet of warring nations to a unified civilization spanning nearly a third of the galaxy, mankind has become a force of nature in the vastness of space. We survive and thrive together as one people.

And yet, we are still many people. Many more than any one nation, planet, system or region can maintain. Thousands upon thousands of worlds and their billions upon billions of citizens were once relatively scattered and wild, but over time, through hardship and triumph, around the warm light of the fiery clusters of stars and their communities, the colonies began to form.
